Conscious Endeavor - Matthew 28:19-20

Quote of the Day
An athlete was never made by mere instruction.  No soldier was ever trained by the mere study of his manual, but by practicing his drill.  Not the hearers of the law, but the doers are justified before God.  We must be going forward, not standing still, simply listening and learning.  Where our duty is seen God is revealed.  Duty is always the will of God.  To see it and not do it, is a most disastrous thing for the man, as well as being an offense against God.  Outlook

(19) Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (20) and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

I am continually amazed and in awe of God as I come to my computer each day to compose a message for you.  Some are of the opinion I write Nan's Calendar for myself.  On the contrary, I write for you.  It is not for my own personal gain.  I have learned to put ego in its place and that is not at the top.
In order for me to have any positive influence on others, I must and do, think of others first.  I trust God explicitly to direct me as to the content of these messages that they will be worthwhile and valuable for teaching what he has taught me about life and how to live as he would have us live.
Each time I sit here with fingers to keys, it is a conscious endeavor to remain active in honoring my vows to God.  As long as there is life and breath in me, I will praise him and actively bring his word to a world in need of positive influence and love.  There are people dying of spiritual starvation right before our eyes.
I've heard there's no such thing as "try".  We either "do" or we "don't do".  As I have shared with you, go out and share with others what you have received.  Talk the talk and walk the walk.  Love, Nan

Spiritual Starvation

By: Nan Forehand
rampant across our nation
epidemic of spiritual starvation
utter tragedy - souls in despair
food in His hands - He's holding it there
starving for so long - numb from the pain
to take the Bread of Life would be your richest gain
open wide and feed the soul inside
don't give up - I know you've tried
slow and easy - you don't want to choke
believe me, spiritual starvation is no joke
this starvation is no laughing matter
spiritually feed on this heavenly batter
risen to it's highest perfection
accept this bread - feel no more rejection
to those of you who already partake
nurture these souls - make no mistake
keep feeding the needy and in due course
our Heavenly Father will surely rejoice

John 6:34-40
"Sir," they said, "from now on give us this bread." Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. But as I have told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. All that the Father gives me will come to me, and who ever comes to me I will never drive away.  For I have come down from heaven not to do my will, but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life and I will raise him up at the last day."

  1. That made me think of the saying that "we are the only Bible a watching world may see" and, right now my contribution to that is to seek to take good care of my husband, to pray for our neighbors who don't know the Lord in a personal relationship and speak a word when it is natural to do so. I've given them several things that they might read recently that speak of our faith and before that, we always sought to be a friend and helper. We trust that God will use these things now when we are unable to do more. I know He understands and is able.

  2. Nan, thank you for this message. I know when I don't stay close to the Lord, and I'm around my friends who do things of the world, it's so tempting to want to be like them. My training as a Christian will never end until Jesus comes to take me Home. The closer I am to God, the more I keep Jesus in my heart and show people just the kind of person He wants me to be.
