The Jewels In My Crown

The most important of all the jewels I wear around my neck are faith, goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness and above all, love.  All of my jewels, I'll gladly share, because I know The Source of them.  There are more where these came from and the supply is endless!

The Jewels in My Crown
written by Nan Forehand May 6, 2006

atop a pillow of fluffy, white cloud
rests a dazzling, bejeweled crown
fit for a King to wear it quite proud

this crown lovingly, painstakenly formed
molded and sculpted by the Master's hands
crafted with pride as by His hands it was warmed

adorned with jewels of every shape and size
multi-faceted prisms reflecting The Light
each one precious in His eyes

a mystery to behold how each jewel came to be
with experience and patience each one was created
I just asked God and he designed them for me

these jewels cast shadow and light
caressed and polished to a radiant sheen
one by one they brought Him delight

He used the tools of His trade to set them in place
each jewel captured inside it's setting
sparkle forever in time and space

I'll share a little secret before I'm through
these jewels representative of moments in time
are made up of the poems I've written for you

indeed, I asked God as a thought occured
to help me express in word and rhyme
yes, each and every prayer He heard

so now the rest of the story you know
how poems become jewels in my crown
and that God made them sparkle and glow

these jewels in my crown
I'll continue to collect
I hope they bring a smile when you're down

not deserving of this crown to wear
I would never want to get a big head
so humbly and gratefully my jewels I'll share

with a heartfelt appreciation for my friend named Ruth
who described my poem as a jewel
I love my Lord and that's the truth!

1 John 5:13
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us - whatever we ask - we know that we have what we asked of Him.
